Instead of posting quotes and goals with the vision of happiness, weight loss and attractiveness, vision finally accepting yourself or at least being content with yourself where you are right now.
Surround yourself not with pictures of people who have lost weight or got plastic surgery but with people who are your body type and also smart and who are making a difference in the world. A huge impact in the new thought movement is changing yourself to be “better” but why must we push trying to change who we are to achieve happiness instead of envisioning ourselves already content with who we are now
The idea in New Thought is that the Universe gives us what we project in our minds. Envision a world where ugly is the norm, the achievable body type is the one we have and we should try to look just like ourselves instead of the photo shopped models on the magazines. Lets physically manifest being content if we gain 10 pounds, being content if we are sad and being content being ugly no matter where we are in our life. We see ugly, fat and mental illness as things to be cured because outside sources tell us so. We would be content with ourselves if it wasn't for outside influences telling us otherwise.
Perhaps we would never give into a bad body image day, if we listened to our divine mind our connection with the universe in all things around us we would realize it is okay to have these bad body image days. Instead of frantically trying to change ourselves by crash dieting, or booking a plastic surgery appointment we would trust the universe and knowing that it is perfectly acceptable to have a bad body image day, if it wasn’t for all these influences instructing us otherwise. The universe will always guide us on the right path even if that path entails gaining 10 pounds or having a bad acne breakout month. You cannot think your way to the perfect body or mind when it does not exist. The universe will always guide you on your way to what you need in the form of cues, cravings and needs (food has a huge impact on how our skin looks due to providing our body with vitamins and minerals it needs). Maintaining an open, trustworthy relationship with your Divine Mind allows you to trust our body and obey ourselves instead of outside sources.
I'm a health conscious curvy girl therefore I envision myself healthy and active, therefore I like to watch Curvy female athletes and pretend I am at their level of Fitness while not worrying about how many calories I ate. I admire them for not worrying about calories, or losing weight, but about being active. I surround myself with women who have thought of self hatred but still vow to never change for anyone to remind myself that my mind and body can overcome the influence of outside sources trying to derail me from listening to my divine thoughts. The one thing that will help is to live life as if you always are content with yourself. On days you have self harming thoughts still see yourself as content with who you are, on days you see yourself as ugly, disgusting, too fat, too thin not muscular enough still see yourself as content with yourself.on those days even if you are gross trust yourself that your body and the universe knows what is best for you.
Surround yourself with pictures, biographies of successful people who suffer from depression, anxiety, BPD and who may not be as attractive as society says we should all be. Vision yourself as finally acknowledging emotions as they come instead of envisioning happiness.
Although I do not agree with the New Thoughts stance that we think ourselves into diseases like cancer we do have the power to think ourselves into diseases such as eating disorders , body dysmorphia and addiction to plastic surgery. We have the power to think so much about “flaws” that we caused them to appear as we think our big nose, or big tummy into a “flaw”. We dream about being a different person that we cause ourselves to develop eating disorders, plastic surgery addiction, drug addictions, and body dysmorphia. We have the mental power to change not for the better like New Thought is based upon what but to be content with who we are now. while goals to have a business and career are important we do not need to be thin, look a certain way or be happy to achieve these goals. We know what is best for ourselves as our divine mind and the universe work together to achieve the best for us. I think that “changing for the better” includes us being content with our body, looks and emotions instead of trying to be the happy, beautiful, thin person we see in the media and that is pushed as life’s only achievable goal. We must listen to our mind and body as signs from the universe telling us what we should do. Nevertheless, we are blinded by tactics to make us want to change who we are to something that is someone else. The universe gives signals to us showing us every day that who we are is who we are supposed to be however we stop listening to our divine universe and listen to diet gurus selling harmful fad diets and plastic surgeons who failed in nursing school trying to make a quick buck. New Thought believes we are already in tune with our body, our mind and the universe, we just need to learn to listen to it.
