Sometimes numerous reports are based on one person's opinion and is dangerous to society's outcasts for its ability to stigmatize them even further.
What is it?
Circular reporting is when an article is written without any sources, then another person writes an article from reading article 1 and then article 1 goes back and puts article 2 as a source so they can look more credible. This occurs when journalists are too eager to get a story out fast and the news organization does not check facts, sources and use critical thinking. A well written article will have their own sources due to the journalist interviewing people, and gaining information from respectable sources such as scientific articles, peer-reviewed journals, etc.
How does it relate?
This relates because it shows how easy misinformation is published. Anyone can write an article and it will look legitimate simply by another person writing a similar article and then the first person giving them credit. This allows the article to look more sophisticated since it now has a "source." This relates because other news sources, even medical journals will see an article and report it as fact due to an article having sources. This can contribute to an outcry towards the insane, obese and ugly for if one person reports the newest trend, or a scientific fact that if you don't look a certain way you can die it easily gets repeated without any real scientific proof. After a while an opinion becomes factual and it is difficult to distinguish fact from fiction.
Danger
Circular reporting can be dangerous to people who are insane because if it is reported a killer has a mental illness, it can create more of a stigma for someone who is depressed, or has BPD. As stated by Butterflyker99 on the site, katherinerobertsblog, Circular reporting can separate fact from fiction and people diagnose shooters, and criminals with the term "mental illness" all of the time when the truth may be different. Reporting may hinder health due to only labeling obese people as unhealthy. This also pushes a certain beauty standard that doesn't exist unless we keep it alive. This puts a strain on people who are labeled as mentally ill , obese, and/ or ugly because it is becoming more stigmatized. This may force a person to unwillingly oppress themselves and feel even more isolated unless they change themselves instead of accepting themselves.
